But don't you have to ...Very interesting post! But don't you have to adjust for the relevance of one's prior dating experience/pool to subsequent pools? Ages 18-22.4 (using your range) for me were pretty useless in terms of providing me with information about what was within my realistic range, because ages 18-20 were spent at Caltech, a place with a male-female ratio of 8-1, and ages 20-22 were spent teaching high school kids SAT classes, so the largest group of females I met were too young and off-limits.<br /><br />It wasn't until I got to Berkeley for grad school at age 22 that you could say I was in a "normal" environment. And then I have to grant you that 4-5 years to figure things out has it about right. I didn't actually get married for another 4 years after that, but that's because 3 of those years were spent moving across the country in 1-year positions working for federal judges.
